Dr. Betty Liverman: Most recently worked as an Assistant Professor, Elementary Programs
Coordinator, and Assessment/Accreditation Coordinator at Shaw University. Her intellectual
homes includes a Doctorate in Executive Leadership from the University of Charleston in
West Virginia, a Master in School Administration from Campbell University, a Master in
Elementary Education from Elon University, and a Bachelor of Science in Theatre Arts with a
concentration in Broadcasting and Communications from East Carolina University.
Certifications include the following:North Carolina and Texas certified K-6 elementary
teacher, North Carolina and Texas certified K-12 Theatre Arts/Dance teacher, and a North
Carolina and Texas certified school principal/administrator.
Before entering higher education, Dr. Liverman was a teacher in North Carolina public
schools and a school principal. Dr. Liverman loves qualitative research including her research
entitled: Conceptualizing the Educator’s Preparation Program of North Carolina through the
Reflexive Lived Experiences of its User Audience: A Phenomenological Study of Intrapsychic
Dimensions of Program Leadership. Her most recent research involves program and course
level continuous improvements entitled: Scaling Up: Science of Reading at an HBCU.
